Global TV market shipments are strong during peak season

In the wake of price increases on the upstream panel, the gradual decline of Internet dividends, and the introduction of comprehensive factors such as sports marketing overdrafts in the previous year, the performance of the color TV industry in 2017 is doomed to be not good-looking. However, with the loosening of upstream panel prices and the arrival of the traditional shipment season, global LCD TV shipments have rebounded in the third quarter.

According to the latest research report from the state-of-the-art WisView Optoelectronics Research Center (WitsView), global LCD TV shipments in the third quarter of 2017 were 54.99 million units, an increase of 16% from the previous quarter and an increase of 4.0% year-on-year. According to the WitsView analysis, with the arrival of the traditional shipping season and the panel prices being significantly revised down, the TV brand is gradually getting rid of the pressure of loss and is more confident of spurting shipments. It is expected that this momentum will continue into the fourth quarter. However, due to the negative growth in the annual growth rate of TV shipments for three consecutive quarters, WitsView revised its 2017 TV brand shipment estimate to 210 million units, a decrease of 4.2% year-on-year.

Panel prices loose the Chinese market is expected to return to normal performance

The reporter noticed that the TV panel price began to loosen completely in June of this year, and the big screen price in August and September dropped sharply. In October, the panel price once again declined.

The latest panel price data released by the International Market Research Institute IHS in October showed that panel prices remained in a downtrend channel in October, especially 40吋 and 43吋, with the highest rate of decline reaching 7%. The prices of large-size panels such as the 55-inch and 65-inch models are even lower than the lowest prices in the second quarter of last year.

WitsView pointed out that in the third quarter of this year, the global major TV brand shipments have seen steady growth, and it is expected that the next TV panel prices will continue to decline gradually. If color TV companies continue to expand their shipments in the third quarter to the fourth quarter, There is an opportunity to make up for the shipping targets not reached in the first half of the year.

Hisense, Sharp Shipment Rank Changes

According to the statistics report released by WitsView, in the third quarter of this year, due to TCL’s success in North American channels and the Chinese market recovering, it still managed to secure third place in shipments. Hisense benefited from the return of domestic and foreign sales orders and returned to fourth place.

Although Samsung Electronics is facing a strong challenge in the high-end TV market, OLED camps, but through the end market price adjustments and strong panel cost bargaining power, the third quarter shipments still have a quarterly growth of 10.6%. However, Samsung Electronics’ TV market strategy will gradually consider profitability as its main consideration. Product development will tend to high-end products such as high-resolution and large-size products. It is expected that Samsung Electronics will ship around 43.5 million units this year. There is still some distance compared to the number of 48 million units last year.

Sharp TV experienced rapid growth in the first half of the year. Shipments in the third quarter declined, and the ranking changed from fourth in the second quarter to eighth in the third quarter.
