AMOLED technology is about to mature in the future
The Visionox Innovation Design Competition is fueling a new wave of innovation and transformation within the AMOLED industry. If 2017 was the year when "full screen" technology truly took off, few would argue against it. From Xiaomi MIX’s borderless design to the iPhone X’s unique-shaped screen, from Samsung S8/Note8’s curved display to Nubian Z17S’s edge-to-edge full screen, numerous brands embraced the "full screen" trend, marking a significant shift in smartphone design.
With the rapid advancement of electronic information technology, the information industry is transitioning from the Internet of Everything to the Display of Everything. Beyond smartphones, smart wearables, automotive displays, and smart home devices are also embracing the power of screens. This has sparked great interest in display technology, leading mobile smart terminals to launch a "screen-centric" revolution, making OLEDs more familiar and widely adopted.
"Design + Industry" is paving the way for a brighter future for OLED. The first Vision of the Future Vision Design Competition, themed “Flexible OLED’s Touching the Future,†has significantly boosted the innovation and evolution of the entire AMOLED industry. It's accelerating the diversification of flexible AMOLEDs in the future display landscape.
This competition marks the first major design event in the OLED industry. Flexible AMOLEDs are ultra-thin, flexible, foldable, and evenrollable, making them ideal for a wide range of three-dimensional and diverse IoT applications. This opens up endless possibilities for the development of flexible AMOLED technology.
From September 2017 to January 2018, over five months saw designers and students from various fields—including consumer electronics, smart wearables, smart homes, cars, art deco, and luxury goods—actively participating in this groundbreaking competition.

Over a thousand imaginative and innovative designs not only broadened the creative horizons of designers but also triggered a "flexible storm" in industrial design. These works raised awareness of OLED technology among both industry players and consumers, helping to extend flexible OLED technology into various sectors and driving the next generation of display innovations.
Opening a New Era of Vision: The Industrial Opportunity of Flexible AMOLED
OLED is being seen as the next pillar of the industry after semiconductors. Market analysts predict that the OLED market will surpass $70 billion by 2020, with flexible AMOLED exceeding $40 billion. This indicates tremendous growth potential for the OLED market. Flexible AMOLED offers higher contrast, wider color gamut, lower power consumption, and faster response times, making it the ideal medium for future human-computer interaction. It is considered a key component and driver in the AI era.
To meet the growing demand for future display technologies, Visionox is strengthening its R&D in OLED technology and product innovation while attracting more upstream and downstream companies to join the industry ecosystem. Through collaborative efforts, they are advancing the development of the flexible display supply chain.
