AMOLED technology is about to mature in the future

The Visionox Innovation Design Competition is fueling a new wave of innovation and transformation within the AMOLED industry. As folded AMOLED technology continues to mature, the industry is stepping into an exciting new era, one that promises to redefine how humans interact with displays in the future. If 2017 marked the breakout year for "full-screen" designs, it's hard to argue otherwise. From Xiaomi MIX’s edge-to-edge screen to iPhone X’s notch-style display, Samsung S8/Note8’s curved full-view screens, and Nubian Z17S’s borderless design, numerous brands embraced the "full-screen" trend. This shift not only redefined smartphone aesthetics but also set the stage for more immersive user experiences. With the rapid evolution of electronic information technology, the information industry is transitioning from the Internet of Everything to the Display of Everything. Beyond smartphones, smart wearables, automotive displays, and smart homes are all entering the display arena. The demand for "screen" solutions has never been higher, pushing mobile devices toward a more integrated and screen-centric future—making OLEDs increasingly familiar to both consumers and the industry. "Design + Industry" is shaping a new future for OLED. With the theme of “Flexible OLED’s Touching the Future,” the First Vision of the Future Vision Design Competition has amplified the innovation and development of the entire AMOLED industry. It's accelerating the diversification of flexible AMOLEDs, opening up new possibilities for future displays. This competition was the first of its kind in the OLED industry. Flexible AMOLED technology offers ultra-thin, foldable, and bendable features, making it ideal for a wide range of IoT applications. It sparks endless imagination for the future of flexible AMOLED development. From September 2017 to January 2018, over five months saw designers and students from various fields—including consumer electronics, smart wearables, smart homes, automotive, art deco, and luxury goods—come together to participate. Their creative contributions brought fresh perspectives and sparked a "flexible revolution" in industrial design, raising awareness of OLEDs across the industry and among end users. Flexible OLED technology is now being applied across multiple sectors, driving the innovation of next-generation display technologies. More than a thousand imaginative designs were submitted, not only expanding the vision of designers but also setting off a "flexible storm" in the design world. OLED is being seen as the next major pillar of the industry after semiconductors. Market forecasts predict that the OLED market will surpass $70 billion by 2020, with flexible AMOLED alone exceeding $40 billion. With superior contrast ratios, wider color gamuts, lower power consumption, and faster response times, flexible AMOLED is considered a key component in the AI era, driving human-computer interaction forward. To meet future display needs, Visionox is strengthening its R&D in OLED technology and product innovation while encouraging more upstream and downstream companies to join the industry ecosystem. Through collaborative efforts, they are accelerating the development of the flexible display supply chain. Visionox has already developed flexible AMOLED products capable of bending, curling, and folding, opening up new application possibilities. In this creative design competition, award-winning entries like the I Roll—"Reel" full-curve flexible screen laptop and the One-Step concept U disk have pushed the boundaries of Visionox's flexible AMOLED technology. They explore more advanced and forward-looking scenarios, ensuring that technology serves society and people better. As AMOLED technology becomes more mature and versatile, we can expect even more innovative applications to enter daily life, ushering the display industry into a brand-new era.
