Allegro MicroSystems, LLC is excited to introduce the ATS688LSN, a new package designed for gear speed sensors. This single over-molded package integrates an optimized Hall-effect IC along with rare-earth magnetism and high-temperature ceramic capacitors. By combining these elements into one compact unit, the ATS688LSN eliminates the need for external EMC protection and integrated magnetic components, simplifying the manufacturing process.
The ATS688LSN offers a user-friendly solution for accurate zero-speed digital gear tooth sensing in two-wire applications such as automotive and two-wheel brake systems. It features a dual Hall element sensor IC with built-in signal processing that can switch based on differential magnetic signals from rotating ferromagnetic targets.
To ensure reliable performance, the device includes a sophisticated compensation circuit that minimizes the impact of external magnetic fields and system offsets. The analog signal is digitally processed to achieve true zero-speed operation. Additionally, an advanced calibration algorithm adjusts gain and offset during power-up, ensuring consistent switching points regardless of air gap variations. This significantly enhances output accuracy and reduces the effects of target vibration and sudden changes in air gap.
