Fengyun No. 4 officially delivered to realize the overtaking of China's geostationary orbit meteorological satellite

On September 25th, China's new generation of geostationary orbit meteorological satellite Fengyun No. 4 was delivered in Beijing. The satellite was officially delivered to the China Meteorological Administration by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The on-orbit delivery of the satellite Fengyun No.4 marks the renewal of China's geostationary orbit meteorological satellite observation system, ensuring the continuous, reliable and stable operation of China's geostationary meteorological observation service, and improving the international status and influence of China's space industry and meteorological undertakings. Fengyun No.4 A star is the first star of China's geostationary orbit meteorological satellite from the first generation (Fengyun 2) to the second generation. It was developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and was successfully launched in December 2016. During the orbital operation of the satellite, the satellite platform, payload, ground application system and other test tasks were successfully completed. The test results show that the satellite functions and performance meet the general requirements of engineering development.

The development of Fengyun-4 satellite has reached the international advanced level, and has realized the leap from China's geostationary orbit meteorological satellite from “running” to “leading”. The star has filled three international gaps, and achieved the world's first geostationary orbit interferometric hyperspectral atmospheric detection. The world's first radiometer, detector, and lightning instrument were loaded on the platform, working all day, and the world's first geostationary orbit microwave detection technology was verified. The first 425GHz band detection. During the on-orbit test, Fengyun-4 satellite carried out real-time and targeted application monitoring of environmental and ecological problems such as disaster weather and cyanobacteria blooms and scorpions.
