Hide the drive letter + easy to browse there is such a trick

Xiao Bian is discovered, you know, the computer can't show too many things to people. People ask every day how to hide files. I remember that before, I used software to hide drive letters or set up hidden folders in Windows. But it seems like the only real way was to use the registry. Oh well, I neglected this for a while, but today I'm going to fix it.

If you want to hide a drive letter using the registry, the process is a bit different from other methods. You need to open the Registry Editor with an administrator account (or log in as the Administrator directly). Press Win+R and type "regedit" to open the Registry Editor. Then navigate to:

On the right side, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value named "NoDrives". This is where the tricky part comes in. To hide a specific drive, you need to calculate the correct numeric value based on the drive letter. It's not just A, B, C — you have to convert the letter into a decimal number first.

E = 16

F = 32

G = 64

H = 128

I = 256

J = 512

K = 1024

L = 2048

M = 4096

N = 8192

O = 16384

P = 32768

Q = 65536

R = 131072

S = 262144

T = 524288

W = 4194304

X = 8388608

Y = 16777216

Z = 33554432

All = 67108863

Once you’ve entered the correct value, restart your computer or log off and back in. The drive you wanted to hide will now be completely gone from the file explorer. Some users say this method is much more convenient than others because once it’s done, you don’t have to toggle between hiding and un-hiding again. For example, if you try to access E:\, it won’t show up at all.

However, keep in mind that unhiding is just as simple. You don’t need to delete the key. Just change the "NoDrives" value back to "0", and the drive will reappear. This method is straightforward and effective for anyone who wants to manage their drive visibility without third-party tools.
