Dongxu Optoelectronics Deploys New Energy Vehicles, Pushing Graphene Battery to Industry Commanding Point
Dongxu Optoelectronics is aiming to build a complete industrial chain for graphene batteries in the new energy vehicle sector. As the "king of new materials," graphene holds immense potential and is being explored extensively in the field of electric vehicles, offering a glimpse into a promising future.
Graphene, the thinnest and strongest nanomaterial known to date, is also an excellent conductor of electricity and heat. Its remarkable properties have sparked great interest in its application within the automotive industry, especially in the development of next-generation batteries.
In July 2016, Dongxu Optoelectronics launched the world's first graphene-based lithium-ion battery. By June 2017, just one year later, this innovative technology had already been applied in small-scale projects such as shared electric bicycles. This marks a significant step forward, suggesting that graphene batteries could soon become the core of future new energy vehicles.
Following its acquisition of Shanghai Shenlong Bus in March 2017, Dongxu Optoelectronics has made continuous investments in the new energy vehicle industry. According to reports, the company has poured a total of 7.97 billion yuan into the new energy vehicle supply chain. These efforts indicate a clear vision: to establish a closed-loop industrial chain that includes graphene materials, graphene-coated cathode materials, graphene-based lithium-ion batteries, and finally, new energy vehicles.
Dongxu Optoelectronics, a subsidiary of Dongxu Group, is one of the world's top four manufacturers of liquid crystal glass substrates and a leading supplier of optoelectronic display materials. As of the end of 2016, the company reported revenue of 6.901 billion yuan and total assets of 46.826 billion yuan.
Looking ahead, Dongxu plans to set up 5–8 new energy vehicle production bases across the country, aiming to quickly develop a new energy vehicle cluster. In addition, the company will continue to enhance the entire new energy vehicle supply chain and drive the growth of strategic industries such as new energy, new materials, the Internet of Things, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence.
