China has the opportunity to become a semiconductor lighting industry

Industrial Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance pilot project

As one of the important representatives of the new materials industry, the development of the semiconductor lighting industry has culminated in all countries in the world. China's semiconductor lighting industry started late, is small in size, and has weak technical capabilities. How can we achieve breakthrough development in the future? In response, Wu Ling, secretary-general of the Semiconductor Lighting Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, said that around the industrial chain, building a national key laboratory and applied technology research center as a carrier, upgrading industrial common technology and integrated technology research and development capabilities will be the new model of the alliance. The organizational form leads the task of industrial development.

Since the Ministry of Science and Technology took the lead in starting the "National Semiconductor Lighting Project" in 2003, China's semiconductor lighting industry has made considerable progress, initially forming a complete R & D system and industrial chain, and taking the lead in demonstration applications. "Since 2000, semiconductor lighting companies have grown from scratch. According to incomplete statistics, as of last year, the number was more than 4,000. This year's output value may exceed 120 billion yuan, and the growth in the next five years will exceed 50%. The number of patents The three years are the sum of the first 18 years, and 52% of the patent application units are domestic institutions." Wu Ling told the Science and Technology Daily reporter.

But in the face of fierce international competition, China's semiconductor lighting industry is facing many problems, lack of leading brand enterprises, small and medium-sized private enterprises account for more than 80%, small scale, scattered resources, lack of innovation capacity; lack of R & D investment, R & D power, lack of industry The common technology research and development platform; the industrial development environment is not perfect, testing, standards, and certification systems have not yet been established; coordination between the state and local, cross-sectoral, and cross-industry coordination is not sufficient.

Wu Ling said that in the next five to eight years, China will have the opportunity to become an industrial powerhouse in the world of semiconductor lighting. “The emerging period of emerging industries generated by revolutionary technologies is generally 20 years. Now it is just 15 years. In the next five years, it is the last five years as the most important period for the cultivation period.” Wu Ling said.

"The next step is that the alliance needs to do two things: first, how to implement technical support; second, how to stimulate and nurture the big market." Wu Ling pointed out that to open and build a technology innovation chain around the industrial chain, according to the length of the semiconductor lighting industry chain. , Small-scale enterprises, decentralized R&D strength, innovation of R&D systems and mechanisms, establishment of two open and international public technology R&D platforms around the front-end and back-end of the industrial chain, enhancement of common key technology R&D, and implementation of next-generation white light technology breakthroughs and applications Integrated innovation.

She said that the alliance will also carry out continuous industrial development strategy research, strengthen upstream and downstream, production, teaching and research cooperation, promote technology integration and industrial restructuring, form a group of leading brand enterprises, and enhance the core competitiveness of the industry. “Rely on alliances to organize and coordinate the construction of public service platforms, including the overall planning of the construction of semiconductor lighting inspection and quality certification platforms, coordinate the establishment of a network-based inspection platform system, and accelerate the construction of a standards system; establish a patent pool to support the creation and application of intellectual property rights. Strengthen the protection and management of intellectual property; intensify personnel training, foster innovation teams, and improve the industry's ability for continuous innovation; and achieve seamless integration of production, education, and upstream and downstream information.”
